The North Dakota State Bison Men's Basketball team has a long history of producing some of the top players in college basketball. From the early days of the program to the modern era, the Bison have seen a number of players who went on to have successful careers in the sport.

Ben Woodside

Ben Woodside

One of the most well-known players in the history of North Dakota State basketball is Ben Woodside. He played for the Bison from 2005-2009 and was the team's leading scorer during his final three seasons. Woodside is perhaps best known for his performance in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, where he scored 37 points in a first-round upset victory over the University of Kansas.

After graduating from North Dakota State, Woodside played professionally overseas and also had stints in the NBA G League. He is currently an assistant coach for the Bison.

Taylor Braun

Taylor Braun

Taylor Braun played for North Dakota State from 2010-2014 and was a two-time Summit League Player of the Year. He was also the team's leading scorer during his last three seasons and helped lead the Bison to their first-ever NCAA Tournament win in 2014.

After graduating, Braun played professionally overseas and has also played in the NBA G League. He currently plays for Kouvot in Finland.

Paul Miller

Paul Miller played for the Bison from 2014-2018 and was a four-year starter. He finished his career with over 1,800 points and helped lead North Dakota State to two NCAA Tournament appearances.

After graduating, Miller played in the NBA G League and also had stints playing professionally overseas. He is currently playing for Trefl Sopot in Poland.

Vinnie Shahid

Vinnie Shahid

Vinnie Shahid played for the Bison from 2018-2021 and was a two-time All-Summit League selection. He was also the team's leading scorer during his final two seasons and helped lead North Dakota State to another NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019.

After graduating, Shahid signed with Tsmoki-Minsk in Belarus. He is currently playing for Hapoel Galil Gilboa in Israel.

Tyson Ward

Tyson Ward played for the Bison from 2016-2020 and was a four-year starter. He finished his career with over 1,300 points and helped lead North Dakota State to two NCAA Tournament appearances.

After graduating, Ward played in the NBA G League and also had stints playing professionally overseas. He is currently playing for Helios Suns Domzale in Slovenia.
