Cal State Northridge Matadors Men's Basketball Players
The Cal State Northridge Matadors Men's Basketball Team is a Division I team representing California State University, Northridge. The team competes in the Big West Conference and has an impressive history of producing talented players who have gone on to play in the NBA and overseas.
Michael Lizarraga
Michael Lizarraga played for the Matadors during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. He was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team in his first season and continued to improve throughout his college career. In his senior year, he averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. After college, Lizarraga played professionally overseas in Mexico and Belgium.
Tremaine Fowlkes
Tremaine Fowlkes played for the Matadors during the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons. He is one of the most successful players to come out of CSUN, as he went on to play in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons. Fowlkes helped lead the Matadors to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance in 1996.
Deon Tresvant
Deon Tresvant played for the Matadors from 2007-2009. He was a key player in the 2009-10 season, when the Matadors won the Big West Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament. Tresvant averaged 17.2 points per game in that season and was named to the All-Big West First Team. After college, Tresvant played professionally in Europe and South America.
Lamine Diane
Lamine Diane played for the Matadors from 2018-2020. He quickly made a name for himself, as he was named the Big West Freshman of the Year in his first season. In his sophomore year, Diane averaged 25.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, earning him the Big West Player of the Year award. After two seasons at CSUN, Diane declared for the NBA draft in 2020.
