St John's Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

Head Coach Joe Tartamella

Joe Tartamella

Joe Tartamella is the current head coach of the St. John's Women's Basketball team. Tartamella has been a part of the St. John's basketball program for close to two decades. He started as an assistant coach under legendary coach Kim Barnes Arico and worked his way up to become an associate head coach in 2008. He took over as head coach in 2012 after Barnes Arico left to become the head coach at the University of Michigan.

Under Tartamella's leadership, the Red Storm have enjoyed tremendous success. They have made the NCAA tournament in each of the past five seasons and have won two Big East regular-season titles. Tartamella's coaching philosophy emphasizes aggressive defense and an up-tempo offense that emphasizes ball movement and sharing the basketball.

Associate Head Coach Seton Sobolewski

Seton Sobolewski

Seton Sobolewski is Tartamella's top assistant coach and has been with the St. John's Women's Basketball program since 2012. Prior to his arrival at St. John's, Sobolewski spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Miami. Sobolewski is widely regarded as one of the top recruiters in the country, and his efforts have helped bring some of the top high school prospects in the country to the Red Storm program in recent years.

In addition to his recruiting prowess, Sobolewski is also an expert tactician and helps develop the team's defensive game plan. Under his guidance, the Red Storm has emerged as one of the top defensive teams in the country, regularly ranking near the top of the Big East in points allowed and field goal percentage defense.

Assistant Coach Patrice Days

Patrice Days

Patrice Days is another key member of the St. John's Women's Basketball coaching staff. She has been with the program since 2013 and holds a wealth of coaching experience, having worked at numerous collegiate programs throughout her career, including Hofstra, Seton Hall, and LIU Brooklyn.

Days is responsible for coaching the team's guards and also serves as the team's recruiting coordinator. She has played a pivotal role in bringing some of the top recruits in the country to St. John's, including current standout guards Qadashah Hoppie and Leilani Correa.

Assistant Coach Tasha Harris

Tasha Harris

Tasha Harris rounds out the St. John's Women's Basketball coaching staff. She joined the program in 2019 after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Alabama.

Harris is responsible for coaching the team's post players and has been instrumental in the development of standout forward Kadaja Bailey. She also helps oversee the team's strength and conditioning program, ensuring that each player is in the best possible shape to compete at the highest level.
