Michigan State-Michigan Mens Basketball Game Postponed As ...
The highly anticipated Big Ten men's basketball game between the Michigan State Spartans and the Michigan Wolverines has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. The game, which had been slated for January 9th, 2021, was one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season, and fans were eagerly looking forward to watching two of the top teams in the conference go head-to-head.
The Decision to Postpone
The decision to postpone the game was made after several members of the Michigan State program tested positive for COVID-19. According to a statement released by the university, the positive tests were discovered during the team's most recent round of testing, which is conducted three times a week in accordance with Big Ten protocols.
The positive tests triggered contact tracing protocols, which determined that several other members of the team would need to enter quarantine due to potential exposure. As a result, the university made the difficult decision to postpone the game.
"The health, safety, and well-being of everyone in our program is our utmost priority," said Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo. "We are disappointed that we won't be able to play this game, but we understand the need to take every precaution to prevent the spread of the virus."
